Kentucky Boxing and Wrestling Commission sponsors referee, judge training April 18 in Lexington

The Kentucky Boxing and Wrestling Commission (KBWC) is sponsoring a training session for referees and judge officials who work boxing and mixed martial arts competitions in the Commonwealth.

The event takes place April 18 in Lexington. Boxing and MMA officials from every state are invited and welcome to attend.

“The KBWC is excited to offer this inexpensive training opportunity for our boxing and MMA referees and judges. Safety and fairness in the ring are our top priorities, and professional development for our officials is key to ensuring those goals,” said Cindy Stinnett, executive director of the KBWC.

The KBWC is collaborating with the Association of Boxing Commissions and Combative Sports, to host this event. Training will focus on: the responsibilities of each position, rules, scoring points/positions, the Unified rules and ethics and conduct.

To register, visit the Association of Boxing Commissions and Combat Sport’s website at https://www.abcboxing.com/. Sign up before March 15 to receive the early bird discount of $100 registration fee.

The registration fee increases to $150 after March 15. Additional information can be found at http://kbwa.ky.gov/Pages/default.aspx or call Cindy Stinnett at 502-564-0085.
