Kentucky Horse Park offers financial assistance program to encourage school field trips

The Kentucky Horse Park and International Museum of the Horse invite teachers and their students for a field trip experience that connects their programs to Kentucky standards and your class curriculum.

During a field trip to the park, students will visit the International Museum of the Horse, the Kids Barn, the Hall of Champions, the Big Barn, and Breeds Barn. Lunches are typically picnic style, weather permitting. Field trips can be scheduled year-round.

The Kentucky Horse Park Field Trip Fund has been expanded to offer admission support for all Kentucky public schools during the 2017-18 school year. The scholarship program covers the full cost of admission for each Kentucky public school student (kindergarten through high school), their teachers and up to one chaperone per 10 students.

A bus fund also is available to help with transportation costs (up to $100 per school).

The field trip fund is available on a first-come, first-served basis while funding remains. While field trips are scheduled year-round, the scholarship assistance is for trips made from Sept.1-Oct. 31 and March 31-May 30.

Visit the park’s school group page for more information and to schedule your visit. Email Ashlee Chilton at ashlee.chilton@ky.gov or call her at (859) 259-4232 for more information or to sign up for a free teacher day at the park Oct. 6.
