Kentucky Horse Park program offers admission support for some state schools for field trips

The Kentucky Horse Park and the International Museum of the Horse welcome student groups for educational field trips that can connect the park’s programs to Kentucky standards and individual class curricula.

During a field trip to the park, students can visit the International Museum of the Horse, the Kids Barn, the Hall of Champions, the Big Barn and the Breeds Barn.

The park also has expanded its Kentucky Horse Park Field Trip Fund, which offers admission support for any Kentucky school in which at least 50 percent of the students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. The scholarship program covers the full cost of admission for each student and teacher, as well as for one chaperone per 10 students.

There is also a bus fund that schools may apply for in order to help cover transportation costs up to $100 per school.

Field trips may be scheduled throughout the year, but the scholarship assistance is for trips made from Sept. 1-Oct. 31 and March 31-May 31. Click here for more information or to schedule a trip, or email Ashlee Chilton at ashlee.chilton@ky.gov for more information.
