Kentucky Wesleyan women’s basketball adds three recruits; Panthers posted 28-3 record last season


The Kentucky Wesleyan College women’s basketball team has added three recruits as Shaylee McDonald, Shiya Hoosier and Corina Conley have all made commitments to continue their careers in Owensboro.

McDonald is a 5-foot-7 guard from Washington Courthouse, Ohio, and a graduate of Miami Trace High School. She is the two-time Frontier Athletic Conference Player of the Year and netted more than 1,000 career points.

Hoosier is a 5-foot-5 point guard from Hendersonville, Tenn., and a graduate of Beech Senior High School. Hoosier scored more than 1,000 career points and was a four-time All-District team honoree. She also compiled a 3.7 grade point average and is involved with both DECA and BETA.

Conley is a 6-foot guard from Englewood, Ohio, and a graduate of Franklin Monroe High School. She averaged averaged 22 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 5.1 steals and 2.5 blocks per game as a senior. Conley also shot 37.7 percent from 3-point range and 53.4 percent from the floor.

She was named to the All-Ohio Division IV first team and also earned Cross Country Conference Play of the Year accolades. Conley holds the Franklin Monroe record for most points in a game (39) and most field goals in a game (16).

Those three recruits will join a Kentucky Wesleyan program that posted a 28-3 record last season. The Panthers were 16-2 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference.
