Lexington-Bluegrass Association of Realtors Day of Giving benefits 10 local Lexington Charities

The Lexington-Bluegrass Association of Realtors (LBAR) held a Day of Giving to support local charities during the holiday season. The project, coordinated through the Community Education and Outreach Committee of LBAR, selected 10 organizations and awarded each with a $500 donation to help cover necessary costs during a time of the year when funding is needed the most.

“Throughout the year, Realtors are involved in many community service projects,” said Greg Buchanan, LBAR president. “But the pandemic has really hindered our ability to engage the way we would like. This project was a way our Association could reach a greater number of organizations during a time when in-person volunteering has proven to be difficult.”

The Association made arrangements to safely deliver donations directly to each charity using LBAR leaders and committee volunteers who wanted to be a part of the project in the communities they serve.

“This time of year is when many organizations need financial support,” stated Michelle Blackburn, chair of the Community Education and Outreach Committee. “Our members, especially those on this committee, are heavily invested in our communities and neighborhoods so this gave us the opportunity to stay connected and give back. It’s a great feeling to know that a family, or even just a single child, may be a little brighter going through the holidays because of this support.”

The committee selected the following organizations to receive assistance:

• Amen House
• Arbor Youth Services
• Greenhouse 17
• Habitat for Humanity
• Hope Center
• Lady’s Veterans Connect
• Lexington Rescue Mission
• The Nest
• One Parent Scholar
• Step by Step
