Lexington Paul Dunbar students sweep top honors in 2020 regional science competition


Students from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School secured top honors in the 2020 Central Kentucky Regional Science & Engineering Fair on March 7.

David Vulakh earned first place overall in the high school division, second place went to Saisha Dhar, and third place to Ashley Su. The middle school division’s overall winners included Morton’s Lars Myrup in first place and Gerald Winkler in third place.

Among fourth graders, Owen Reynolds of Brenda Cowan Elementary was the top winner, and Louis DeSalvo of Rosa Parks Elementary was second overall.

The regional competition was held at Dunbar. Middle and high school category winners qualified for state competition at the Kentucky Science & Engineering Fair, which this year has shifted from an in-person fair scheduled for March 28 to a virtual format.
