Lextran to operate on Sunday schedules for Christmas and New Year’s Day

Lextran will operate on Sunday schedules in observance of Christmas and New Year’s Day to meet the needs of the community during the holidays.

On Tuesday, Dec. 25 Lextran routes will operate on a Sunday schedule with limited service hours in observance of Christmas Day. The first departure from the downtown Transit Center will occur at 11 a.m., and the last departure from the Transit Center will take place at 6:10 p.m. Customer Service and the administrative office on Loudon Avenue will be closed.

On Tuesday, Jan. 1 Lextran routes will operate on a normal Sunday schedule. Customer Service and the administrative office on Loudon Avenue will be closed.

The following routes, which normally operate on Tuesdays, will not operate on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day:

· 14 Blue/White (Stadium)
· 15 (Red Mile)
· 16 (Southland/BCTC)
· 17 (Northside Connector)
· 18 (Centre Parkway Connector)
· 21 (Airport/Keeneland)
· 22 (Mercer Road)
· 24 (Old Frankfort Pike)
· 26 (Green Route Connector)

On Monday, Dec. 24 (Christmas Eve) and Monday Dec. 31 (New Year’s Eve), Lextran routes will operate on a normal weekday schedule. Customer Service will be open from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The administrative office on Loudon Avenue will be closed.

Route 14 – UK Blue/White, Route 15 – Red Mile, & Route 26 – UK Green will operate on a modified schedule of 6:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Jan. 2-4. These routes will not operate Dec. 24 through Jan. 1. These routes will return to normal service on Monday, Jan. 7.

Route 27 – UK Yellow will resume Sunday service on January 6, starting early at 9:30 a.m. and ending at midnight.

Lextran serves people and the community with mobility solutions. Lextran’s fleet includes compressed natural gas, battery-electric, hybrid-electric, and diesel buses. Lextran operates 23 fixed routes, a door-to-door paratransit service and a vanpool/ridesharing program. Regular bus fare is $1.00, and there are a variety of reduced fares and pass programs available to individuals who qualify. All buses are equipped with bike racks and are wheelchair accessible.
