Lindsey Wilson ranked No. 3 nationally in NAIA preseason poll by College Football America Yearbook

Lindsey Wilson is ranked No. 3 nationally in the College Football America Yearbook NAIA preseason poll.

The Blue Raiders received the preseason ranking after going 12-1 — a program-best — in 2019 as they reached the semifinals of the NAIA playoffs for the first time. Lindsey Wilson also won its third Mid-South Conference championship last season.

Lindsey Wilson is joined by four other Mid-South Conference opponents in the poll as the Cumberlands (Ky.) is No. 5, Keiser (Fla.) is No. 9, Reinhardt (Ga.) is No. 14 and Southeastern (Fla.) is No. 19.

Defending NAIA national champion Morningside (Iowa) is No. 1 in the preseason poll, followed by No. 2 Grandview (Iowa).

In addition to the team recognition, Lindsey Wilson’s Jaylen Boyd received individual recognition and was named to the College Football American 2020 Yearbook Starting Lineup. He joins five other Mid-South Conference players who were selected to the 27-man team.

Boyd was tabbed as an all-purpose athlete on special teams after being named a 2019 AFCA-NAIA and an Associated Press NAIA All-American in 2019. He ranked fourth in the NAIA with 1,839 all-purpose yards last season and racked up 16 touchdowns.

Boyd is a graduate of Caldwell County High School. He has scored 24 touchdowns the past two seasons and gained 1,756 rushing yards.
