Local beneficiaries of WHAS Crusade for Children to celebrate ‘For the Love of Children’ week Feb. 4-10

Each year, tens of thousands of dollars from the WHAS Crusade for Children go to Lexington-area agencies, schools and hospitals that help children with special needs. To say thank you, these local recipients are sponsoring “For Love of the Children” week Feb. 4-10.

Each day during the week, select businesses in Lexington will offer a percentage of sales to the WHAS Crusade for Children. They include:

Among the local groups that receive funding from WHAS are: Allegro Dance Project, CASA of Lexington, Central Kentucky Educational Cooperative, Down Syndrome Association of Central Kentucky, Fayette County Public Schools, Lexington Hearing and Speech, and Visually Impaired Preschool Services of Central Kentucky.

The WHAS Crusade for Children, established by WHAS-TV in Louisville in 1954, raises money for children with special needs in all 120 Kentucky counties. Its telethon, the oldest telethon in the United States, is June 1-2 this year. For more information, visit www.whascrusade.org.
