MiLB Roundup: Blake Perry, Tim Peterson earn wins in final starts of the regular season

The Lexington Legends opened their final series of the season with a 10-2 loss to West Virginia. Legends third baseman Hunter Dozier was 2 for 5 with one RBI, and catcher Chad Johnson was 2 for 4 with one double and one run scored. Right-handed starter Greg Billo was charged with his third loss after surrendering four runs, two of which were earned, on six hits in four and two-thirds innings while striking out six batters and walking three. The Bowling Green Hot Rods could not finish a series sweep of South Bend in a 9-2 loss. Hot Rods center fielder Andrew Toles was 2 for 4 with one double, one triple, one RBI and one run scored. Left-handed starter Blake Snell was charged with his ninth loss after surrendering three runs on six hits in three and one-third innings while striking out five batters and walking two. The Louisville Bats opened their final series of the season with a 4-3 loss to Indianapolis. Bats shortstop Kristopher Negron was 2 for 4 with one home run, two RBI and one run scored. Right-handed starter Tim Crabbe did not receive a decision after surrendering one unearned run on five hits in five and one-third innings. Right-handed reliever Loek Van Mil was charged with the loss after surrendering one run while recording just one out in the bottom of the ninth inning. (Box Score)

 

Pitching against the Hot Rods, former Boyle County High School right-handed pitcher Blake Perry earned his eighth win after surrendering one unearned run on three hits in six and two-thirds innings while striking out four batters and walking two.

 

Former UK right-handed pitcher Tim Peterson earned his first win in his first professional quality start after surrendering three runs, two of which were earned, on six hits in six innings while striking out two batters and walking none for low A Savannah.

 

Former UK outfielder Sawyer Carroll was 2 for 3 with one triple, three RBI, one run scored and one walk for AA Mobile.

 

Former Trinity High School and UK left-handed pitcher Corey Littrell likely closed out his first professional regular season with his best appearance a as pro to-date, surrendering three hits in four scoreless innings while striking out five batters and walking one in a start for short-season Lowell.

 

Former Western Hills High School and UK infielder J. T. Riddle was 2 for 4 with one RBI for short-season Batavia.

 

Former UK left-handed pitcher Taylor Rogers surrendered on hit in four scoreless innings while striking out five batters and walking none in a start for high A Fort Myers.

 

Former Butler County High School right-handed pitcher Keith Butler earned his ninth save of the season after striking out the final two batters without surrendering a run for AAA Memphis.
