MiLB Roundup: Zach Jackson, Craig Stem earn postseason saves; Hot Rods eliminated

See below for a roundup of highlights from Kentucky high school and college alumni as well as the state’s three Minor League Baseball teams from Thursday in a special postseason edition of the BluGrass Baseball MiLB roundup. You can see all the Kentucky MiLB players here


The Bowling Green Hot Rods were eliminated from the Midwest League playoffs with a 9-5 loss to Fort Wayne. Hot Rods designated hitter Tyler Goeddel was 2 for 4 with two doubles, two RBI and one run scored, and first baseman Patrick Leonard was 2 for 3 with one RBI, two runs scored, one walk and one stolen base. Right-handed starter Reinaldo Lopez was charged with the loss after surrendering fours runs on seven hits in three innings. (Box Score)


Former UofL left-handed pitcher Zach Jackson struck out three batters in two perfect innings to earn the save for AAA Omaha in the Pacific Coast League playoffs.


Former WKU right-handed pitcher Craig Stem struck out two batters in a perfect inning to earn the save for high A Rancho Cucamonga in the California League playoffs.


Former Hancock County High School and WKU infielder Wade Gaynor was 1 for 4 with one double and one RBI for AA Erie in the Eastern League playoffs.


Former UofL right-handed pitcher Tony Zych pitched a scoreless inning in a relief appearance for AA Tennessee in the Southern League playoffs.


Former Tates Creek High School and UK right-handed pitcher Trevor Gott pitched a scoreless inning in a relief appearance for low A Fort Wayne in the Midwest League playoffs.
