Morehead State women’s basketball team inks UMBC graduate transfer Tyler Moore for next season

The Morehead State women’s basketball team has inked sharp-shooting Maryland-Baltimore County graduate transfer guard Tyler Moore, head coach Greg Todd has announced.

Moore, a 5-foot-10 product of Portsmouth, Va., missed the 2019-20 season due to injury after a stellar junior campaign in which she shot 38 percent from 3-point range. Moore finished eighth in the America East Conference with 1.8 triples per game and averaged 7.1 points per contest as a junior.

“Tyler will make a big impact on our team this year,” said Todd. “Her maturity and leadership will be valuable with three years of playing experience at the Division I level.

“On the floor, Tyler’s a proven shooter and her size allows her to guard multiple positions.”

In three seasons at UMBC, Moore played in 80 games and averaged 6.8 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. During her rookie campaign in 2016-17, Moore started in 27 games and helped the Retrievers to an appearance in the 2017 WBI Tournament.

Prior to UMBC, Moore starred at Norfolk Academy and earned second team all-state honors in Virginia as a junior.

Moore will have one season of eligibility remaining as a graduate transfer for Morehead State in 2020-21. The Eagles posted a 10-20 overall record in 2019-20, including a 6-12 mark in the Ohio Valley Conference.
