NASCAR’s Ragan makes pit stop at Shriner’s Hospital to encourage summer safety


NASCAR racing legend, David Ragan will visit Shriners Hospitals for Children Medical Center — Lexington on Thursday, July 6 to host the Superheroes of Summer Safety event for patients receiving care at the pediatric orthopaedic medical center.

Patients of Lexington Shriners Medical Center will participate in a summer safety check-up that takes kids through four interactive stations — or pit stops — equipped with important safety information.

Ragan will race at the Kentucky Speedway in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Quaker State 400 Presented by Advance Auto Parts on Saturday, July 8, 2017.

Playground accidents, swimming-related incidents, as well as campfire and fire pit burns are some of the more common and potentially life-altering childhood injuries that can occur during the summer months.

The event begins at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Medical Center — Lexington, located on 110 Conn Terrace, Lexington, KY 40508.

Complimentary parking available in the parking garage located at 110 Transcript Ave. Pedestrian bridge connected to Shriners Medical Center is located on Level C.
