Three former Kentucky college athletes participated in the 11th full day of action at the London Olympics. You can see a rundown of their performances below:
Basketball
Former UofL women’s basketball player Angel McCoughtry scored 11 points in Team USA’s 91-48 win versus Canada in the quarterfinal round. McCoughtry added five rebounds, two assists and two steals.
The Americans return to action Thursday in the semifinals versus Australia.
Track and field
Former UK runner Rodel Sorrillo, who was competing for Trinidad and Tobago, finished 34th in the first round of the men’s 200-meter dash with a time of 20.76 seconds. He did not qualify for the semifinals.
Former UK runner Mikel Thomas, who was also competing for Trinidad and Tobago, finished 32nd in the first round of the men’s 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.74 seconds. He did not qualify for the semifinals.
