Registration open for March 17 Ohio River Valley Woodlands and Wildlife Workshop in Loveland, OH

Registration for The Ohio River Valley Woodlands and Wildlife Workshop is now open.

This year’s workshop, an annual tri-state event that rotates between Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio, will be held at the Oasis Golf Club and Conference Center, Loveland, Ohio March 17. Forestry and wildlife experts will provide an array of educational sessions designed to help woodland owners get the most out of their property.

Sponsored by the Cooperative Extension Services of the University of Kentucky, Kentucky State University, The Ohio State University and Purdue University, the one-day workshop will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. EDT.

Matthew Springer, Doug McLaren and Laurie Thomas will represent the UK Department of Forestry and Natural Resources, part of the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment, and Richard Cristan will represent Kentucky State University. Springer will lead a session on black vulture damage control. Thomas will talk about invasive plants in one session and boundaries and trails in another, and McLaren will take the mystery out of tree identification. Cristan’s session will cover timber management practices.

Other concurrent sessions will include such topics as aquatic plant management, renovating native, warm-season grass stands for wildlife, native bees, the economic outlook for forest products industries, woodland management after the emerald ash borer, management for bats, a land legacy and common pests and diseases.

The Oasis Conference Center is located at 902 Loveland-Miamiville Road, Loveland, Ohio, 45140, in suburban Cincinnati, 33 miles from the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport. Registration includes lunch and is $45 per person prior to Feb. 28 and $55 after that date. Final registration deadline is March 9.
