Salato Sampler fundraiser celebrates 16th year with The Whiskey Bent Valley Boys June 1

Enjoy the best of Kentucky’s food and drink while supporting the Salato Wildlife Education Center at the 16th annual Salato Sampler in Frankfort from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, June 1.

In addition to tasting the world’s finest bourbons, guests can enjoy locally produced food from Kentucky Proud vendors, including smoked pork, fried catfish and blue snapper (Asian carp). The Sampler also offers local wines and beers.

The Whiskey Bent Valley Boys

The Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Foundation partners with Kentucky Proud to present this fundraiser for the Salato Center.

The Whiskey Bent Valley Boys bluegrass band will provide entertainment throughout the evening. Outdoor exhibits will be open for guest viewing while the Salato staff and volunteers will be on hand to answer questions about the center’s wildlife. Ongoing silent, live and online auctions will help raise additional funds for the center.

Tickets for the Salato Sampler are available by calling (502) 229-7578, online at kentuckywildlife.com, or at the door. Early bird tickets are $75 a person. Admission increases to $85 after May 24. Event attendees must be 21 years in age or older.

New this year is a special VIP ticket. This ticket allows holders an early 5 p.m. entry to the event, personal time with animals and a separate door prize. Only 100 VIP tickets will be sold. The cost is $125 per person.

The Salato Center will be closed to general visitors June 1 to allow staff time to prepare for the event. Doors will reopen for the Sampler at 6 p.m.

The center is located off U.S. 60, approximately 1.5 miles west of the U.S. 127 intersection. Look for the bronze deer statue at the entrance of the main Kentucky Fish and Wildlife campus.
