Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill releases new spring program; lineup dives deeper into Shaker history

Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill has announced a new lineup of programming for spring. Beginning March 1 and running through the end of May guests of the Village will be able to enjoy new seasonal programs in addition to year-round Daily Adventures like Shaker music, historic tours and farm experiences.

The new programs include:

A History of Hospitality – Shaker Village is known today for its friendly staff and welcoming spirit, but did you know that the history of hosting guests at Shaker Village goes back over 200 years? Explore the many ways travelers, neighbors and other guests have experienced their visits to Pleasant Hill through time, while touring overnight and dining accommodations today. Offered every day at 1:30 p.m.

Every Object Has A Story: A Shaker Bonnet – Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill cares for thousands of objects and materials with historic ties to the site. Each one has a unique story. More than a simple bonnet for a Shaker sister, this artifact helps tell the story of a strong-willed woman who lived to be the last Shaker in Kentucky. Offered every day at 2:30 p.m.

Shaker Troublemakers – Discover how a small community was rocked by the powerful beliefs (and personalities) of a few of its members. This is not the story of Shaker Village you’ve heard before. Offered Friday and Saturday at 5:30 p.m. with purchase of a $5 after 5 p.m. program ticket.

Later in the season hayrides and rides on the Dixie Belle Riverboat will be available. Admission to Shaker Village allows you to have full access to The Historic Centre, The Farm and The Preserve, along with all of the Daily Adventure offerings.

Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill in Harrodsburg is located just 40 minutes away from Lexington, and 80 minutes outside of Louisville. To plan your visit to Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, or to learn more, visit shakervillageky.org or call 800.734.5611.
