Cameron Kneeland’s three-run homer in the third inning put Delmarva in front for good, and the Shorebirds never let up on their way to an 18-6 win over the Lexington Legends Tuesday night in Salisbury, Maryland.

After Delmarva scored a run in the bottom of the first inning, the Legends took the lead with two runs in the third. With two outs, Chad Johnson doubled and scored on a single by Ryan O’Hearn. Wander Franco’s double brought O’Hearn home with the go-ahead run.

With two outs and no one on in the bottom of the third, Steve Wilkerson was hit by a pitch. Logan Uxa singled, and Kneeland followed with a drive over the wall in left center field, giving the Shorebirds a 4-2 lead.

Delmarva extended the lead to 8-2 with four runs in the fourth, two coming home on a double by Wilkerson. The Shorebirds added two runs in the sixth to make the score 10-2, and after the Legends countered with Johnson’s two-run double in the seventh, Delmarva wrapped it up with one run in the seventh and seven in the eighth, when T.J. Olesczuk delivered a two-run double and Ronarsy Ledesma hit a two-run homer.

The Legends scored two runs in the ninth, one on a ground out by O’Hearn, who is tied for the South Atlantic League lead in runs batted in with 56.

Corey Toups had two hits for Lexington, extending his hitting streak to 13 games. During the streak, he has 28 hits in 57 at bats, a batting average of .491.

Delmarva starter John Means (6-6) worked the first six innings and got the win. Legends starter Scott Blewett (2-2) took the loss.
