Sixth annual Black Friday Art Sale Dec. 1-2 at Loudon House to feature unique gifts from 25 local artists

On December 1-2, the Lexington Art League and dRock Press usher in the holiday season with the 6th Annual Black Friday Art Sale, at the Loudoun House. Enjoy a one of a kind shopping experience to find a personal, thoughtful, and hand-crafted gift. The first holiday pop-up market of its kind in Lexington — the 2017 Black Friday Art Sale will feature more 25 local artists exhibiting unique, handcrafted gifts perfect for the holidays. “LAL’s mission includes continually promoting and supporting local artists within our community,” said the Lexington Art League’s Executive Director, Stephanie Harris, “With the Black Friday Art Sale, we do just that – as well as making holiday shopping unique and enjoyable.”

“Since our inception, LAL has served the local community by providing meaningful opportunities for artists to sell and exhibit their work. The Black Friday Art Sale is just one of many unique opportunities we provide,” Harris further stated. Other LAL programs designed to provide direct support to artists include the Community Supported Art Program, the Woodland Art Fair, the Artist Archive, as well as ongoing arts in collaboration with programmed exhibitions.

Black Friday Art Sale was brought to LAL by Lexington artist Derrick Riley of dRock Press and his wife, Kelly Karbowicz Riley, former LAL Events Director. “We wanted to create a unique sale opportunity for artists in Lexington,” says Riley, “And like so many others across the country, Black Friday directly reflects, in many ways, our personal mission. We’re so pleased to serve as partners again this year and to see that the sale not only supports local artists, but also the Lexington Art League.”

The two-day event will feature pop-up shops by local artists and, during Friday’s event from 7-10 p.m., all works will be available at $50 or less. On Saturday from 2 p.m.-7 p.m., artists will offer works of varying values to accommodate the interests of a wide variety of buyers.

The 2017 Black Friday Art Sale is made possible by our friends at West Sixth Brewing Company with the generous support of Courtyard Lexington Keeneland/Airport.

This year, LAL is delighted to feature food/drinks by Sweet Lilu’s, with caroling from our friends at Lexington Children’s Theatre on Friday night, music from DJ Leeroy, cookie decorations on Saturday and much more!
