Members of the Class of 2015 in Fayette County Public Schools are invited to apply for the 16th District PTA scholarships, which help deserving young people continue their education.

The awards are based on financial need, academic achievement and contributions to the community through extracurricular activities. The minimum amount is $500; recent years’ awards have been $1,000.

A scholarship goes to one student at each of the five high schools. (Seniors in other academic programs can apply through their home school.) An additional scholarship is earmarked for a student with special needs. This is the 22nd straight year that the 16th District PTA has provided college scholarships.

Download an application from the Blue Grass Community Foundation; the deadline is Mar. 15. For questions, contact Kassie Branham at (859) 225-3343. The winners will be notified this spring and recognized at May’s districtwide PTA luncheon. For more information, check with the PTA’s Liza Holland.

These scholarships are partially funded through donations from local PTA/PTSA chapters; individuals can also contribute. here, click on the “Donate Now” button, and choose the 16th District PTA William Ezzell Scholarship Fund.
