Gallery Exhibition: “Put a Lid On It: Containers by Kentucky Artisans”
Now through Feb. 28
 
The exhibit, “Put a Lid on It: Containers by Kentucky Artisans,” is on display at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea, showcasing containers by 48 Kentucky artisans. Some works are purely functional while others offer new interpretations of the container form. They are created from a variety of materials including stone, clay, turned and carved wood, glass, metal, fiber and recycled materials.

The Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea currently features works by more than 700 artisans from more than 100 counties across the Commonwealth. Convenient to visitors throughout the year, the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea is located at 200 Artisan Way, just off Interstate 75 at Berea, Exit 77. The center’s exhibits, shopping and travel information areas are open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The cafe is open 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Admission is free.
 
Lobby Exhibit: “Kentucky Murals by Frank W. Long”
Now through April 18, 2015
 
The Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea announces a new exhibit, “Kentucky Murals by Frank W. Long” on display in the center’s lobby now through April 18, 2015. This exhibit showcases murals located in Kentucky that were created by artist Frank Weathers Long (1906-1999). The exhibit includes images of each Kentucky mural along with text panels detailing its history and a biography of the artist.
 
These murals, one of which is in Berea, are on display in Lexington, Louisville and Morehead. Visitors can learn about these historic murals and travel into Berea to see one first hand. From 1932-1942, Long lived and worked in Berea creating over 19 murals for public and federal buildings in the states of Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Oklahoma, Maryland and South Carolina.
