Transylvania University President Owen Williams will move into a new position this summer as president of the Associated Colleges of the South, a consortium of 16 liberal arts institutions.

In his letter to the university’s board, Williams said, “While I am genuinely thrilled to be moving to this new pursuit, I can also say without reservation that it was an honor to serve as the 25th president of Transylvania University.”

Williams announced his resignation last June and committed to staying on until the end of the 2013-2014 academic year. The board announced his successor – Seamus Carey, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Sacred Heart University – earlier this month (see KyForward story here). Carey will take the reins July 1.
