Transylvania's Stansberry and Sirkin earn All-Heartland Conference postseason honors

Transylvania University sophomore Parker Stansberry and junior Tommy Sirkin earned All-Heartland Athletic Conference honors, the league announced this week.

Stansberry (Erlanger/Dixie Heights) earned 2nd Team All-HCAC honors leading the Pioneers in scoring in his sophomore campaign, ranking 8th in the HCAC in scoring and 3rd in rebounding. Stansberry averaged 14.8 points per game and 6.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 46 percent from the floor and 37 percent from behind the arc.

“Parker really came on strong and had some big HCAC games for us,” Transylvania University Head Coach Brian Lane said. “There were several times in our wins that he made key shots or came up with a strong rebound. With such a young team this season, we counted on Parker to carry a much bigger load than his freshman season. The good thing about Parker is that he will continue to work to get even better the next two seasons.”

Sirkin (West Boca, Fla. /West Boca) was selected to the All-Sportsmanship Team which recognizes individual sportsmanship amongst athletes in the HCAC.

“It’s nice to see Tommy honored by the conference with the sportsmanship award,” Lane said. “He has an infectious positive attitude that really helped our younger players through some tough stretches this season. He always played hard but to a level where he respected his opponent and the officials. He was an obvious choice and I am proud he got the award.”

The two helped the Pioneers to a 9-17 (7-11 HCAC) season advancing to the HCAC tournament. Transylvania fell, 75-54, to College of Mount St. Joseph’s in the first round.
