UK Fine Art Institute offers multiple classes and workshops for all artists in the summer

Looking to advance your art skills this summer?
The University of Kentucky’s Fine Art Institute might just be the answer with its assortment of classes and workshops for adults in the community who wish to further their creative skills. Designed to fit into the working schedules of most adults, these noncredit courses range from metal working to digital photography.

Offered three times a year, the institute’s programs are geared toward beginners and advanced artists. This summer, 10 courses are being offered: six classes and four workshops. Classes meet once or twice every week, and workshops are a one-day event. Locations for the programs include the Reynolds Building, Fine Arts Building and White Hall Classroom Building.

The institute’s summer 2013 classes are:
· “Beginning to Draw” with Christine Kuhn, 6-9 p.m. Mondays, beginning June 10;
· “Beginning to Paint” with Kuhn, 6-9 p.m. Tuesdays, beginning June 11;
· “Ceramics” with Jill Stofer, 6-9 p.m. Tuesdays, beginning June 11;
· “Drawing II” with Kuhn, 6-9 p.m. Wednesdays, beginning June 12;
· “Open Painting Studio” with Kuhn, 6-9 p.m. Thursdays, beginning June 13; and
· “Beginning Metal Working” with Jeremy Colbert, 6-9 p.m. Thursdays, beginning June 13.
For those interested in a one-day or four-day course, the summer 2013 workshops are:
· “Beginning Photoshop” with Lennon Michalski, presented June 24-27 or July 22-25;
· “Digital Photography One-Day Composition and Creativity Workshops” with Michalski, presented June 22 or July 20;
· “Advanced Digital Photography and Studio Lighting Workshops” with Michalski and Shelley Petty of Rochambeau Photography, presented June 23 or July 21; and
· “Advanced Digital Photography and Outdoor Lighting Workshops” with Michalski and Petty, presented July 7 or Aug. 18.
Also being offered this summer is an open drawing session with Anthony Roccanova, available at 9 a.m. every Saturday.

The Fine Arts Institute is an outreach program at the UK School of Art and Visual Studies in the UK College of Fine Arts. It demonstrates all the resources and classrooms that the department has to offer through noncredit art classes. All courses and workshops are open to the public and not restricted to students of the university.
