USA Cares to host free career and education expo for veterans, transitioning service members on June 26

USA Cares, a national nonprofit organization supporting military families in crisis, is hosting a career and education expo focused on hiring transitioning military, National Guard and Reservists, as well as veterans and their spouses on June 26.

In coordination with the Kentucky Department of Veterans Affairs (KDVA), the Soldier for Life Transition Assistance Program (SFL-TAP) and the Army Reserve P3 program, the USA Cares Career and Education Expo will be held on June 26 at The Jeffersonian, located at 10617 Taylorsville Road in Louisville, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Setup for participating organizations will begin at 9 a.m.

This event provides an excellent networking opportunity for veterans and military families who are seeking post-service careers in the civilian workforce. More than 200 potential career seekers are expected to visit the expo, and space will be available for employers to hold on-site interviews with attendees if necessary.

“We hosted a Career & Education Expo in Louisville last January and had an overwhelmingly positive response to the event, prompting us to offer a second one in the Louisville region,” said Cory Speicher, Career Transition Specialist for USA Cares. “This event is an excellent opportunity for local and national employers to connect face-to-face with many of the skilled veterans in their community, and to provide resources to those seeking additional education.”

Please note that space is limited, and employers and educators are encouraged to reserve their booths early. Employers and educators can register online at www.classy.org. Each vendor booth registration costs $400, and includes one 8-foot table and one lunch; additional lunches can be purchased separately through the registration page.

Admission to the Career and Education Expo is free to the public. Career seekers are encouraged to pre-register for the expo online here.

Republic Bank is a major sponsor of the 2019 June Career & Education Expo. Participating employers include InspiriTec, Inc., Norton Healthcare, Charter/Spectrum, LG&E/KU, Schneider Electric, Software Guild, Whitney Young Job Corps, Computershare, KY Personnel Cabinet, and Algood Food Company. Several nationally accredited colleges and universities will also be in attendance.
