Voices of Hope hosting fourth annual event to raise awareness about overdose prevention

In memory of lives lost, to raise awareness about overdose prevention, and to celebrate the hope found in recovery, Voices Of Hope-Lexington, Inc. and its community partners are sponsoring this fourth annual event in Jacobson Park on Saturday, Aug. 27 from 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.


Over 100 event volunteers will be on hand to host more than 300 anticipated participants. Guests should follow event signs leading from the main park gate back to Shelter No. 6.


· Memorial wall – guests may display photos and memorabilia in tribute to their lost loved ones.
· Bluebirds of Hope community art project – back by popular demand, the park will be covered with paper birds carrying handwritten messages of hope and healing along with wooden birdhouses that guests may decorate as keepsakes.
· Resources for those who are grieving, in recovery or seeking recovery from addiction.
· On The Move Art Studio – kids’ crafts and entertainment.
· Overdose response training and naloxone kit distribution.
· Motivational speakers, including persons in recovery and Van Ingram, Director – Kentucky Office of Drug Control Policy who will present a plaque to commemorate the occasion (formal program 11-11:30 a.m.).
· Free tee shirts, wrist bands and snacks while supplies last.

There is no charge for the event and it will be held rain or shine.
