Walmart, Sam’s Club and Walmart Foundation gives more than $24.5 million to charities across the state

Walmart, Sam’s Club and the Walmart Foundation have donated a total of $24,599,587 million in cash and in-kind contributions to non-profit organizations in Kentucky during FY18. These donations support Kentucky programs focused on hunger relief, healthy eating, workforce development and disaster preparedness.

Specifically, Walmart, Sam’s Club and the Walmart Foundation are dedicated to the fight against hunger and are determined to help families who need ready access to nutritious food. In Kentucky, Walmart’s contributions include:

Across the Commonwealth, Walmart and Sam’s Club donated 13,366,043 pounds of food to local food banks and hunger relief organizations during FY18, which is the equivalent of 11,138,369 meals.

“Over 170,000 people suffer food insecurity in greater Louisville. We can only address this public health crisis with creative and committed support from the community,” said Brian Riendeau, executive director of Dare to Care. “Walmart has proven time and again to be a critical partner in our efforts. Their generous support of Dare to Care makes a real difference for struggling families.”

Walmart encourages associates to get involved with charitable organizations that matter to them, their families and the communities they serve.

Across the Commonwealth, Walmart associates performed 17,741 hours of volunteer service in their communities throughout FY18.

“The real magic of Walmart comes from our deep roots in each community we serve,” said regional general manager for Kentucky Tina Rodriguez. “It’s incredibly important to our associates and our leadership that we invest in improving the lives of our customers, our neighbors, and our fellow Kentuckians.”

The Walmart Foundation supports organizations by awarding grants that have a long-lasting, positive impact on communities across the U.S. In addition, Walmart U.S. stores, clubs and distribution centers award cash grants to support local nonprofits.
