Welcome T.G. Shuck to the KyForward team; popular meteorologist gets back in the saddle

Popular news personality and meteorologist T.G. Shuck has joined the KyForward team in creating a special weather page that will be launched next week.

T.G. – everybody’s favorite weather guy – is a well-known figure in Lexington and the region. He was the chief meteorologist for WKYT-TV for 11 years and served in various other roles there for another 11 years before resigning in February 2012 to spend more time with his young family.

“We are so pleased to have T.G. join us in adding yet another special dimension to our growing online ‘newspaper,’” said Judith Clabes, editor and publisher of KyForward. “He shares our family values and our journalistic values as well. We love T.G.’s public service commitment, his professionalism – and his ‘nice guy’ image that honestly reflects who he is. He’s just a great addition to our working family.”

Shuck and his wife, Angie, have three daughters – Sydney, Brooklyn and Raleigh. “His girls” are spending a lot of their time in New York City these days as they pursue careers in the performing arts. His daughter, Brooklyn, is a cast member of Annie the Musical.

“After months of planning, our new KyForward weather page is nearing launch,” Shuck said. “It will be a one-stop shop for all things weather here in Kentucky and what is happening in my world as well. In addition to my forecasts, I’ll have daily video blogs to go along with written updates and posts. There are webcams, maps and additional articles about weather … plus users can send in their weather photos and comments.”

He joined WKYT as a videographer while a student at Georgetown College in 1990. He worked in Charlotte, N.C., for a couple of years, then returned to WKYT as a videographer while working toward a meteorology degree. He won numerous honors throughout his career. The Associated Press named him best television weather anchor in Kentucky for five consecutive years, from 2006 to 2010. He also won four regional Emmy Awards, including three for his work after the crash of Comair Flight 5191 in 2006.

T.G. is a native of Lexington and a graduate of Lafayette High School.
