Willie Cauley-Stein blocks update: What's going on?

Willie Cauley-Stein had one block Tuesday against Arkansas, and the drought is on. He has four blocks in three SEC games, and even though it wasn’t likely he’d get a ton against a three-happy Razorbacks team (even though they only took 11 out of 45 total attempts Tuesday), it’s still troublesome that at the end of regulation, Cauley-Stein had a one-on-one against 6-6 Alandise Harris, and he opted to try to take a charge instead of block the shot. More on that in a bit.

Because this is basketball, there is a game in a few days, and Willie Cauley-Stein will have a chance to get going again Saturday at home against Tennessee. The Volunteers are 280th out of 351 Division I teams, having 11.7 percent of their 2-point attempts blocked. They keep possessions down by rule—though UK could certainly speed the tempo if it so chooses, which it likely won’t—but Cauley-Stein will have his chances Saturday at Rupp Arena.

For now, here’s the updated chart that shows how much Tuesday’s performance set him back of Anthony Davis’ and Nerlens Noel’s blocks pace in every category. Click to embiggen.
