Woody Williams Foundation to sponsor motorcycle ride honoring Gold Star Families Oct. 3 in Prospect

The Woody Williams Foundation in conjunction with Captain’s Quarters presents the second annual “The Cause is Greater Than I…” Motorcycle Ride. On Saturday, October 3, motorcycle riders and riding enthusiasts will take an escorted ride which will begin and end at Captain’s Quarters in Prospect.

At the midpoint of the ride, there will be a special memorial service at Veterans Memorial Park of Kentucky honoring Gold Star Families and their loved ones who have paid the ultimate price for freedom. Following the ceremony riders, Gold Star Family members, and all those participating are invited to return to Captain’s Quarters for a special program including live music, food, and more.

Two Medal of Honor recipients will be in attendance supporting Gold Star Families. Medal of Honor recipients Woody Williams, WWII and Don Jenkins, Vietnam, will serve as Honorary Ride Captains.

Williams, who will be celebrating his 97th birthday on October 2, said it’s important for people to participate in events honoring veterans of the armed services.

“Let us ride together in honor of those brave who have sacrificed their lives for our Freedom,” he said

Gold Star Families are invited and encouraged to attend both the Memorial Salute at the turn-around of the Ride as well as the Special Program at Captain’s Quarters following the Ride.
