Yes, they CAN: Teams participate in CANstruction for displays you’ll want to see at Lexington Center

Staff report

Eight teams of Lexington, architects, engineers, contractors, designers, and students attending schools of architecture, engineering, and design will design and create structures made entirely from canned foods.

Yes, they can — as they participate in CANstruction being held for the first time in Lexington at The Shops at Lexington Center.

The free event is sponsored by the East Kentucky Chapter of the AIA.

The structures are incredible, edible structures our of cans that will be on display in the Lexington Center until December 4.  Teams will create their design within a 10′ by 10′ space.  

The nationwide event start in 1992 and has been held across the country — to call attention to hunger and to benefit local foodbanks and charities.

The cans will be donated to God’s Pantry Food Bank after the show.

Top winners will go to the International CANstuction competition.
